Students who graduate from this program;
- Know the basic concepts of Psychological Counseling and Guidance.
- Assess the individuals in different developmental stages, (physical, mental, emotional and social), evaluates their developmental tasks and adaptation problems specific to the developmental period.
- Comprehend the basic theories and approaches in the field of psychological counseling.
- Analyze the roles and duties of the psychological counselors regarding their sub-specialization areas such as school counseling, career counseling, family counseling, and rehabilitation counseling.
- Evaluate the effects of social change and needs on counseling services with a multicultural perspective.
- Understand the philosophy, school system, organization chart and school staff roles and duties of the Ministry of National Education.
- Evaluate the effects of teaching principles and techniques, classroom management approaches, teachers' attitudes and behaviors on students' physical, mental, emotional, social and character development.
- Have the ability to select, use and evaluate the appropriate measurement tools in the counseling field.
- Use the theoretical and practical information acquired in the field of counseling by adapting it to the needs of the institution (education, health, industry, justice, family counseling centers, employment offices, etc.).
- Conduct research on the subjects related to the field of counseling.
- Conduct individual and group psychological counseling sessions in accordance with the principles and techniques of counseling.
- Do educational guidance in accordance with the principles and techniques of counseling.
- Conduct career counseling in accordance with the principles and techniques of counseling.
- Design, implement, evaluate and update the counseling and guidance programs suitable for educational levels and school types based on the purpose and principles of developmental and preventive guidance.
- Provide consultation and collaboration with authorities for the education, development and adaptation of disadvantaged people (disabled, poor, immigrant, asylum seeker, etc.) in schools.
- Plan and implement individual and group interventions in accordance with the principles and techniques of marriage and family psychological counseling, in order to cope with the developmental and sudden crises of the family members, to increase the level of well-being and resilience against stressful life events
- Plan and implement individual and group interventions in accordance with the principles and techniques of career counseling to support individuals' career development.
- Evaluate the new paradigms related to the field of guidance and counseling using scientific methods and techniques.
- Follow the information in the field of psychological counseling and can communicate with colleagues by using a foreign language at least at the level of European Language Portfolio B1.
- Use European Computer license as required by the field, information and communication technologies with advanced computer software.
- By using empathy, unconditional respect, transparency, which are the basic principles of the counseling field, adopt an understanding that is sensitive to clients' self-actualization and psychological well-being.
- Develop a positive understanding of lifelong learning that will ensure his/her professional development.
- With his/her attitudes and behaviors, become a model for the society as an agent of the counseling field.
- Adopt an understanding that complies with the ethical principles of democracy, human rights and counseling profession.
- Take active responsibility as a professional in solving social problems.
- Advocate for the guidance and counseling field.
